From the end of qing dynasty to the Republic of China, this period can be said to be the last period of the writing period of Chinese brush.Yet it does not appear to be a spent force. In 1890 as the dividing line, born 1890 years ago and was born after 1890 years of the Republic of China scholars calligrapher calligraphy creation presents two kinds of different style: early of the Republic of China calligraphy creation did not with the change of the social ideas of depression and in the late qing dynasty and upheaval,it is still continuation of the late qing dynasty calligraphy creation more than the natural renewal, has a strong connection with characteristic; In the later period of the Republic of China, influenced by the "eastward dissemination of western learning" and the May 4th new culture movement, and widely absorbing the experience of western scholarship, the new generation of scholars and calligraphers gradually became mature in terms of creation, presenting a novel and different style from the ancient one,and leading the unique style and attainments of calligraphy in the period of the Republic of China. At present, facing the flourishing situation of calligraphy,we should think and search for it in a calm way, instead of praising or criticizing it blindly.Studying the calligraphy of scholars in the Republic of China is just for the healthy and orderly development of contemporary calligraphy. The development of contemporary calligraphy lacks the feelings and spiritual strength of the calligrapher, which is not the opposite to the skills of the calligrapher. The technique of calligraphy is only a means to really enter the artistic level of calligraphy, and what makes calligraphy work have more depth is the breadth of mind, embrace and heart of a calligrapher. If the pure understanding of calligraphy is "pure" technology, then only pavilion body, gan lu body, fine arts and its echo.In fact, the pen and ink need to carry, not to achieve a certain level of skills can be called as a work of art, more fundamental is thepeople behind the pen and ink culture, realm, etc.,this is the art of calligraphy has become the world's unique art of the fundamental. The research content of this topic is divided into five chapters: the first chapter defines the concept of scholar and scholar calligraphy clearly. The second chapter summarizes and organizes the scholars and calligraphers in the period of the Republic of China.Taking scholars born before 1890 and those born after 1890 as the rough dividing line, scholars born before the Republic of China were nurtured by the old learning and slightly influenced by the new learning, while those born after the Republic of China were nurtured by the new learning and slightly influenced by the old learning, showing different styles of calligraphy.Chapter three classifies the typical scholars and calligraphers in the period of the Republic of China and makes a case study of their learning process and thoughts. The fourth chapter from the scholars calligraphy is inherited from the late qing dynasty, calligraphy skills but as a "matter",calligraphy at that time did not get rid of the practical situation, the wide range of knowledge and practice of diversification of these four aspects confirmed the reasons for the prosperity of scholars calligraphy. From the fifth chapter, the author explains the enlightenment of the scholars' calligraphy in the Republic of China to the development of contemporary calligraphy, and advocates that contemporary calligraphy should return to the original, innovative and cultural nature of calligraphy.
