The source text of this Chinese-English translation practice report is called The 13th Five-Year Plan for Tourism Development in Guang'an Municipality.Research methods such as literature review and case analysis are adopted for the translation report, with integrated discussion of some common problems in translation and discussion of appropriate translating strategies according to“the Hermeneutic Motion”of George Steiner, the representative figure of Hermeneutics. The Fourfold Motion includes trust, aggression, incorporation and restitution. Before reading or translation, the translator will undergo the step of“trust”consciously or unconsciously, and he/she believes that the original text does mean something.“Aggression”refers to the conflict between two languages and cultures that occur in the process of understanding of the original.“Incorporation”means that the meaning and form of the original text are transplanted. In the process of introduction, the target language may become rich,or the source language may be assimilated.“Restitution”,the last step proposed by Steiner,is crucial.Only by making restitution can the translator restore the previously broken balance and try his best to achieve ideal translation.By studying the specific characteristics of the political text in terms of type and words, translation methods of the political text are concluded in this report. The reporter finds that:The segmentation is of great significance for the translation of long sentences;while the use of restructuring and conversion translation is mainly for that there are differences between Chinese and English at the respect of word order and voice. In addition, the purpose for use of other methods as amplification, omission and transliteration is to make the translation language be more smooth and idiomatic.Besides, the corpus can be collected with the help of computer-assisted translation to provide reference for translation industry in the future. In view of the fact that there is no official translation of the text yet,the translator hopes that the translation will provide references for the relevant documents and materials of the tourism industry in Guang'an.The report mainly consists of four parts, including the description of translation task, the description of translation process, introduction to Hermeneutics, difficulties in translation practice and reflections and case studies.Part one is about the project description and the original text analysis, which mainly aims to introduce the objective and meaning of the project,to analyze the context structure of the original text based on the main content of the original text,to introduce the background, meaning and linguistic characteristics of the original text,to make clear of the planning direction and measures, and to provide the background for the development of the report.Part two focuses on the description of the translation process, including pre-translation preparation, translation tools, parallel corpus, translation plan and post-translation quality control with relevant translation theories as the guidance for translating behaviors and practices, and this part discusses some difficult points in the translation practice.Part three is a brief introduction to the translation theories applied in this translation.Part four is about the case study of the translation practice, which is the most important part of this report. Finally, the reporter summarizes the gains and shortcomings of this translation and some suggestions for similar projects of translation are put forward.
