A Practice Report On Simulative Simultaneous Interpreting Of "How To Cultivate The 'Unicorn'"

Dialogue is a studio interview program launched by CCTV.In this program,the host is the organizer and guides experts and scholars to discuss hot topics.In this simulative simultaneous interpretation practice,one of this series--How to Cultivate the "Unicorn" ? was selected as the material for the translation practice.Reviewing the task process,this report briefly introduces the background and purpose of the task firstly.Then it elaborates the preparations before the interpretation and the work during the interpretation,collation and evaluation.And in the part of case analysis,it analyzes the problems and difficult points from the aspects of listening comprehension and reformulation with the framework of the Interpretative Theory and typical cases.Meanwhile,it comes up with effective interpreting skills and coping strategies.Finally,this report summarizes the experiences of this interpretation practice and points out the shortcomings in the practice.Through the Simultaneous Interpreting practice and analysis,the author recognizes the importance of preparations before the interpretation.It also confirms that Interpretative Theory can effectively guide the practice of interpretation,but the interpreters should apply different interpreting skills such as chunking,anticipation,addition,omission,and conversion based on the actual situation.It is hoped that this practical report would provide some experience and lessons for the author's interpretation work in the future,as well as some references for other interpreting learners in the field of TV interviews.
