The research of translation process is essentially the study of cognitive process.At present,the research on cognitive process of consecutive interpreting still needs to be further studied.Except for the linguistic factors that directly influence the consecutive interpreting quality,the non-linguistic factors also play an important role in the interpreting process.Therefore,this paper,from the perspective of embodied cognition,has a hypothesis that the six non-linguistic factors influencing the consecutive interpreting process,including meta emotions,anxiety,logical thinking,interpreting notes,working memory,and attention,are interrelated and work together in the interpreting process.Therefore,the research in the thesis explores the aspects and process of their influencing on the consecutive interpreting,and investigates how these factors work together to influence the interpreting result.It also ranks the six factors according to the degrees of their influence on the consecutive interpreting output and tentatively describes the cognitive process of the consecutive interpreting.Specifically,the research adopts the methods of interpreting experiments for student interpreters,questionnaires for student interpreters and professional interpreters,and the interviews with professional interpreters.By analyzing the experimental data,this research found that the six factors do interact with each other during the whole interpreting process,for example,the logical thinking ability influences the interpreter's interpreting notes,and the interpreting notes affects the distribution of the interpreter's attention,therefore they eventually work together in influencing the interpreting result,and the six factors affecting interpreting are ranked as follows: attention,working memory,logical thinking,interpreting notes,meta emotions,and anxiety.In addition,the thesis suggests that the interpreter can be trained in one of the factors to enhance other factors for the purpose of eventually improving the interpreting result.Specific suggestions in this aspect are provided for interpreting training.This research is beneficial not only to the further research on interpreting but also to the improvement of interpreting training.
