This practice report is based on the translation of The Slave Ship-a Human History(chapter 8).With the slave ship as a focus,this book describes the rise and fall of the slave trade in the west countries,exposes the little-known,bloody and violent past of the slave ship,and provides valuable information for the research of the slave ship.Of numerous documents regarding the history of the Atlantic slave trade,The slave ship has remained a neglected aspect.The publication of the book caused an immediate stir.The translation of this book helps the Chinese readers have a glimpse of the slave trade and the development of capitalism.It is of great research significance,and provides valuable research materials for both Chinese and foreign scholars who study the history of slave ship and slave trade.The report consists of four parts.The first part gives a brief introduction to the translation project,which focuses on the project background,content and practical significance of the project and text analysis.The second part states the translation process,which mainly involves the preparation before translation,the problems in the translation process,and revision.The third part is case study about the selection of appropriate translation strategies to solve the problems under the guidance of Skopos theory so as to improve translation quality,including three parts: the translation of pronoun and rhetoric,and specification of the words according to the Skopos rule,the coherence rule,the fidelity rule.The last part is the summary,the author's understanding of Skope theory and self-reflection.
