A Rhetoric Study On The Food Safety Law

This paper studies the words,sentence patterns,negative rhetoric characteristics,language style and other aspects of the food safety law revised in 2015 byusing rhetoric related theories.Briefly discusses the characteristics and general rules of the language use of the food safety law.The legal provisions of the food safety law involve a number of natural science knowledge and contain a large number of related professional vocabulary,which not only has the characteristics of general legal language,but also has its unique style.In word selection,it has three characteristics: accuracy,stability an d times.In the choice of sentence pattern,in addition to the long and short sentences,tight and loose sentences,whole and loose sentences and their combinations used in general legal provisions,some specific sentence patterns are also used.In terms of rhetoric style,it mainly uses negative rhetoric,which has four characteristics: clear meaning,coherent,even words and phrases,and stable and dense arrangement.In terms of language style,it adopts a bright,solemn,simple,plain and rigorous style,which highlights the unique professional language style of this law.Finally,a rhetorical comparison is made between the food safety law(2015) and the food safety law(2009) to find out the highlights of the food safety law and further verify the primary characteristics of accurate and rigorous legal language.
