This report is based on the consecutive interpretation(CI)of the Seminar on Customs Management and Security Inspection Equipment Management for Developing Countries in 2018,which was sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of the People?s Republic of China and organized by Shandong Foreign Trade Vocational College on 11 th September 2018.It describes a CI task conducted by the writer,analyzes the interpretation of the speech delivered by Mr.Zhai,and discusses the common difficulties of Chinese-English consecutive interpreting and relevant coping tactics and solutions with a view to accumulating experience and enhancing interpreting ability.This report has four chapters.The first chapter introduces the characteristics and requirements of interpretation and the development of interpretation research,basic viewpoints and domestic research and development of the Interpretive Theory.The characteristics and requirements of interpreting are accuracy,fluency,high interactivity,time-effectiveness and inter-cultural communication.The development of interpreting research is mainly based on foreign and domestic studies.The Interpretive Theory focuses on the content and meaning of information transmission and does the main study of meaning exchange during translation process.The second chapter is task description consisting of pre-translation preparation and the interpretation process.Considering the large amount of professional knowledge and terminology involved in this interpreting practice,the writer collected more information related to the course to learn about professional expressions,background,topic and introduction about the speaker before the task.Meanwhile,the author chose similar materials to mock interpretation so as to gain some experience and make predictions about the content of the lecture.The third chapter is case analysis.Based on the Interpretive Theory,the writer analyzes the text by using literal translation,supplementary translation,omission translation,sentence reconstruction,free translation and inductive translation skills and learns from the unsuccessful cases.The fourth chapter is post-interpretation summary,which found the problems that occurred during the interpreting process and summarizes the personal experience for better interpretation in the future.
