This study originated from the differences of Chinese character proficiency between senior high school students and junior college students in Wenqiao Trilingual School in Bali,Indonesia.Based on the actual teaching situation and the previous research results,this paper compiles the Questionnaire of Chinese Learning Motivation,the Questionnaire of Chinese Character Learning Strategies,and applies it to 12 college students and 17 senior high school students.The results show that the composition of college students’ Chinese learning motivation ranks as instrumental motivation,external pressure motivation,teacher or classroom motivation,etc.The composition order of Chinese learning motivation of senior high school students is external pressure motivation,learning situation motivation and instrumental motivation.The composition and order of commonly used Chinese character learning strategies for college students are stroke order strategy,Chinese character application strategy and review strategy.Senior high school students’ commonly used Chinese character learning strategies are stroke order strategy,mechanical memory strategy and review strategy.Among them,instrumental motivation of junior college students has the greatest impact on their Chinese character learning strategies,while external pressure motivation has the greatest impact on Chinese character learning strategies of senior high school students.According to the specific situation of college students’ Chinese learning motivation and Chinese character learning strategies,the author suggests that teachers can increase practical teaching content and strengthen Chinese character drilling;make induction and comparison of partial headings to avoid writing errors;and combine the characteristics of College Students’ autonomy to play a positive role in Chinese character software.In addition,according to the actual situation of Chinese learning motivation and Chinese character learning strategy of senior high school students,the author proposes that teachers can make full use of multimedia equipment to enhance the interest of Chinese character teaching of senior high school students;make rational use of pressure to improve the efficiency of Chinese character learning of senior high school students;give full play to the positive role of Chinese input method to help senior high school students memorize Chinese character fonts;actively carry out Chinese character cultural activities to deepen senior high school students’ cultural perception of Chinese characters.
