Internship Report:Terminology Management In Translation Project For Winter Olympic Games

With the deepening of the social division of labor,the importance of terminology management has become increasingly prominent.For the translators,the terminology management runs through the entire translation process,which helps to improve translation efficiency and ensure consistency of terminology.For international companies,terminology management is an essential part of their language assets,which helps to reduce the cost and establish a brand image.From July to August 2018,the author participated in the Winter Olympics translation project in iFLYTEK and was responsible for proofreading and terminology management.The report is based on the author's internship and is designed to reflect on the practice and problems of terminology management in real translation projects,providing solutions and references for similar practices in the future.The report begins with an overview of the Winter Olympics translation project,including company profile,project background,project process,and author responsibilities.Secondly,it describes the problems in the terminology management of the project from the preparation,translation and closing stages,including term extraction,common problems in term translation,quality control and so on.In response to these problems,based on industry standards,the author proposes corresponding solutions,including making style guides and glossary,sharing term search skills,and building term base,etc.Finally,the report summarizes the internship and puts forward suggestions.Through the internship and research,the author becomes familiar with the search methods of sports terms,deepens the understanding of terminology management,and strengthens the application of terminology tools.She also realizes that with the increasing importance of terminology management for international companies,translators should strengthen their awareness and ability in terminology management.Students majoring in translation and interpreting should learn terminology management tools and enhance their professional ability.
