A Report Of The Interpreting Practice At China-Israel Investment Conference

This is a report about the author's interpreting practice at the 2018 China-Israel Investment Conference.The author of this report works as an interpreter of the manager of Eloxx Pharmaceuticals and several Chinese investors.The report aims at analyzing interpreting cases and summarizing interpreting techniques on the basis of Skopos Theory.The report firstly describes the background information about the interpreting task,the entrusted and entrusting parties and the clients;secondly the report presents the whole interpreting process including task preparation,task performance and task summary;thirdly,literature review of Skopos Theory is given as a theoretical foundation for the case study;fourthly,the report attempts,based on Skopos Theory and the interpreting cases,to analyze the difficulties encountered and summarize the interpreting techniques that the interpreter has applied to tackle the difficulties.Finally,major findings,limitations and suggestions are presented.Through detailed analysis of the interpreting cases,it's found out in the report that techniques including omission,amplification,conversion and reorganization have been taken to overcome difficulties like redundancy and fuzzy information and to improve the quality of message delivery.It is hoped that this report could be helpful and suggestive for interpreters in providing good interpreting service and facilitating communication in business occasions.
