A Report On Translation Of Act Of Will

The dissertation is a practice report of English-Chinese translation.The source text is a fantasy fiction,named Act of Will,written by British-born American novelist Andrew James Hartley.There is currently no Chinese version of this book and no scholars have conducted systematic research on it.The translator chose the first 5 chapters as the selected translation material.Based on its own translation practice and guided by the theory of Functional Equivalence,this report systematically summarizes the major difficult problems encountered during the translation process.Functional Equivalence Theory includes four aspects: lexical equivalence,syntactic equivalence,textual equivalence and stylistic equivalence.In this translation report,the translator analyzes the translation process and selects some examples from two aspects of lexical equivalence and syntactical equivalence,and provides relevant translation techniques.In terms of vocabulary translation,amplification,omission,conversion and replacement are used to ensure that the translation conforms to the expressive habits and linguistic characteristics of Chinese.In the aspect of sentence translation,voice changes,division,combination and reverse are used to make sentences smoother and enhance the readability of the translated text.Through the application of translation theory and techniques,the translation not only embodies the stylistic features of the original text,but also fully takes into account the feelings of the target readers.Through this translation practice,the translator has improved the translation ability and mastered translation skills.Meanwhile,the translator further understands the guiding role of translation theory in the practice.The translator hopes that the techniques adopted in the practice report can provide some references and have a positive impact on the translation of more excellent fantasy fictions in the future.Figure 0;Table 0;Reference 30...
