Classroom teacher-student interaction is the most important kind of interpersonal interaction in schools.It is the ideological and emotional collision and psychological and behavioral interaction between teachers and students through teaching in classroom situations.Effective teacher-student interaction is of great significance to the development of teachers,the growth of students and the efficient conduct of the classroom.It is also the key to form a good teacher-student relationship.The English curriculum standard of compulsory education attaches great importance to the applicability and practicality of language learning,and the curriculum reform also advocates student-oriented,which are closely related to the interaction between teachers and students.With the progress of reform,the interaction between teachers and students in primary English classroom teaching has gradually begun to attract attention.However,there are still many problems and shortcomings in the interaction between teachers and students in primary English classroom teaching.On the basis of the existing research results on teacher-student interaction at home and abroad,the author chooses students and English teachers of grade 4,5 and 6 in G Primary School in Hongshan District of Wuhan City to conduct an investigation.The main breakthrough and innovation of this study is that it not only studies the classroom teacher-student verbal interaction,but also investigates the non-verbal interaction.The research methods adopted include questionnaire survey,interview and observation.Firstly,a questionnaire survey was conducted among the students of each class in the fourth,fifth and sixth grades to understand the current situation of teacher-student interaction in English classroom from the perspective of students.At the same time,an interview was conducted among the English teachers in the three classes to understand their interaction concepts and explore the existence of teacher-student interaction in English classroom from the perspective of teachers.Then each class chooses an English class for classroom observation,objectively analyze the problems and causes of classroom teacher-student interaction from the perspective of observers,and put forward the countermeasures and measures for improvement,mainly from the two aspects of schools and teachers.This paper consists of five parts.Firstly,the introduction introduces the research background,literature review,research significance,research contents,methods and research ideas.The first chapter introduces the core concepts and theoretical basis.Chapter two presents the current situation of teacher-student interaction in G primary school English classroom from classroom questioning,classroom discussion,classroom explanation,classroom non-verbal interaction and classroom observation.Chapter three analyses the problems and reasons of teacher-student interaction in G primary school English classroom teaching.Through the analysis of questionnaires,interviews and classroom observation records,the author finds that the main problems at present are the limited participants and unequal opportunities of students’ classroom interaction;the emphasis on form rather than content,less effective interaction;teacher-led interaction,students’ passive participation;the emphasis on knowledge teaching and the lack of emotional interaction.In view of these problems,the author summarizes four reasons: the large class size,the lagging concept of interaction,the neglect of individual differences and the characteristics of English subject.Based on the analysis of the above reasons,the fourth chapter puts forward the countermeasures and suggestions as follows: Strengthen the Construction of Campus Culture,improve the teaching evaluation mechanism,optimize the classroom teaching environment;Teachers actively improve teaching methods,enhance teachers’ professional accomplishment,change the concept of teacher-student interaction,improve teaching and evaluation skills,attach importance to emotional exchanges between teachers and students,encourage students to study independently,cultivate students’ interest in learning,and enhance students’ awareness of interaction.
