This paper was built on the simulated English-Chinese simultaneous interpreting of Transatlantic Digital Economy Dialogue(Excerpt)without scripts, aiming to sum up experience and lessons to prepare the interpreter for the next practice through investigating the whole interpreting process, including the pre-interpreting preparation, the interpreting process and the post-interpreting reflection. The author introduced the background information and theoretical basis at first, then applied the selected theory,Gile's Effort Model,to dissect challenges during the interpreting process from three aspects, namely listening and analysis, memory and production, and provided corresponding coping strategies including parrot interpreting, reasoning, delaying the response, restructuring, omission, anticipation, consulting the resources, segmentation and correction to address these challenges. Finally, the author made an assessment on the quality of this interpreting task with the interpreting assessment criteria made by AIIC.The findings showed that insufficient availability of processing capacity for the Listening and Analysis Effort, the Memory Effort and the Production Effort would confront interpreters with problems. This meant interpreters must coordinate the three efforts well during the interpreting process and make constant practice to improve the capacity for each effort in the daily life.
