Error Study On The Single Temporal Adverbial Order Of Japanese,Korean Or English Speaking Students

This paper targets on analyzing Chinese learners'(whose mother language are English,Japanese and Korean)errors in terms of the order of Chinese temporal adverbials.Based on the previous researches on the temporal adverbial order of Chinese,English,Japanese and Korean and the materials from the HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus,this paper adopts the error analysis method to investigate types and reasons of those errors,then a corresponding teaching plan is designed.This paper is expected to be helpful in Chinese teaching to those students with different language backgrounds.Firstly,the author generally selects materials,namely errors about Chinese word order made by English,Japanese and Korean students,from the HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus.Then more than two hundred materials solely about errors of temporal adverbial order are selected from the previous materials.Despite the difference in these three languages(English follows a SVO order yet Japanese and Korean follow a SOV order),students speaking these languages made similar errors when learning Chinese temporal adverbials:errors about subject,errors about predicate and errors about recognition of syntactic constituent.However,the incidence of errors varies with language background.Errors of Japanese and Korean learners are mainly about subject while errors of English learners are mainly about recognition of syntactic constituent.Comparing different error types,this paper holds that the reasons of errors in temporal adverbial order are mainly as follows:the transfer of mother tongue,the complexity of Chinese structure and word order and the teaching methods,etc.Lastly this paper offers some teaching strategies:adopting a comparative teaching method,teaching based on cognitive schemata and conducting proper review and practices.
