Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run education has seen its booming development in recent years thanks to the nation’s reform and opening-up.As a result, class interpreting came along.Class interpreting serves to substantially facilitate the communication between teacher and students.Against the backdrop of enhanced international cooperation, the co-run education is bound to scale new height. Therefore, the role of class interpreting,is growing more pronounced than ever before. This practice report is based on the author’s own experience of consecutive interpreting for an MBA IT management course co-sponsored by Renmin University of China and Stillman University. In this report, the author selected some short episodes of his interpretation as the object of case study and applied Verschueren’s Adaptive Theory to analyze language selections and adaptations according to various contexts.Relevant coping strategies are discussed in this report.Through detailed analysis, the author concludes that in order to make the most appropriate language selections and adaptations,an interpreter should pay attention to contextual, structural, dynamic and salience adaptation. This notion may be of help to those who aspire to be interpreters for similar programs.
