Translation Practice Report-a Case Study On E-C Translation Of Defense Request For Proposals Of Ministry Of Defense,Arab Republic Of Egypt

With the continuous advancement of globalization,economic,political and cultural exchanges among countries around the world increase steadily.Moreover,with the rise of China's economy in recent years,it plays a much more important role in the world economy,so China's economic and commercial exchanges with other countries increase day by day.As an important part of economic exchanges,bidding documents are of great importance.The translation of bidding documents not only tests the translator's language skill,but also puts forward high requirements for the translator's knowledge construction.This paper is a translation report of Egyptian Ministry of Defense Intelligent Transportation System Request Proposal,which consists of four parts: the First Chapter introduces the translation project,including the background,purpose and significance of the project and the client's requirements;the Second Chapter introduces the implementation process,including pre-translation preparation and translation process.It is mainly about pre-translation preparation,specific work in the translation process and post-translation proofreading;the Third Chapter illustrates case study and is also the most critical part of this paper.This part analyses the characteristics of the bidding documents from the lexical and syntactic levels.Through the analysis of the technical terms,modal verbs and archaic words in the lexical part,as well as the long and difficult sentences and passive sentences in the syntactic part,the characteristics of bidding document and the corresponding translation strategies are illustrated;the Fourth Chapter is a summary,which mainly summarizes the whole process of translation,including the qualities that translators should possess,reflection and summary of problems in translation,etc.
