The Translation Report Of A Chinese Parenting Book Under The Communicative Translation

Nowadays,more people acknowledge the advantages of Chinese family education,which is no more the traditionally assumed “stick parenting”,however,there have been few published Chinese parenting books in English version in Western countries.Hence it is meaningful to translate Chinese parenting books and introduce them to foreign countries so that our family educational theories can be truly known by foreign people.This report,extracting from my translation of a Chinese parenting book,summarizes the four difficulties of translating Chinese literary books,which are the difficulties in the aspects of language points,thinking,culture and context,pointed by Tian Chuanmao and Yang Xianming in the English-to-Chinese Translation Strategies.Newmark pointed that communicative translation is to make the readers of the target language have the same feeling as those of the original works.Guided by this theory,I put forward different translation strategies to solve those four difficulties.I hope my translation can give references to and enrich the study of this kind of translation work.
