Solutions To "Chinglish" Rendition In Light Of Joan Pinkham's Categorization

Based on a C-E consecutive interpreting practice of the author,this practice report focuses on the causes of Chinglish renditions,in the hope to avoid them in light of Joan Pinkham's The Translator's Guide to Chinglish.Chinglish is a kind of misshapen and hybrid language which can be described as “English with Chinese characteristics”.In this practice report,the author has clarified Chinglish first and summarized the reasons behind it as well as the necessity to avoid it.The author referred Pinkham's categorization of Chinglish expressions,and plans to discuss the Chinglish expressions in her interpreting practice from two layers,namely unnecessary words and inappropriate sentence structures.With the help of the book,possible solutions are analyzed and discussed.The purpose of this practice report is to help MTI candidates better understand the causes and the coping tactics of Chinglish renditions,thus handling similar interpreting situations with ease and confidence.
