A Practice Report On C-E Whispering For Company Meetings From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

Based on the author’s C-E whispering tasks for multiple meetings during her internship in the company,this practice report summarizes the problems encountered on-site and showcases corresponding tactics under the guidance of Skopos theory so as to better achieve the communicative effect.Specifically,based on the skopos rule,tactics of identifying intentions,asking for information and being communicative are adopted to cope with the problems of physical distance,environmental disturbance and interruptions;based on the coherence rule,tactics of omission and addition are applied to counter the problems of unclear references and incomplete sentences in source text;based on the fidelity rule,tactics of anticipation,note-taking,repairing and correction are utilized to deal with the fast speech rate and intensive use of jargon and acronyms.After the verification of adopted tactics,conclusions could be drawn that the tactics applied under the guidance of Skopos theory could contribute to better whispering performance and facilitate the communication process of the company meeting.
