Localisation has become an extremely important part of game development, but domestic research on localisation is still at the initial stage.Given this situation, this report chooses Translation and Localisation in Video Games(Chapter V)as the translation text, aiming to let domestic game developers, localisation suppliers and translators understand the development of game localisation and provide guidance for domestic game localisation research.Functional equivalence theory emphasizes that the translation should not be constrained by the form of the original text, and should pay more attention to the equivalence of readers' response, which gives translators great flexibility. So this theory can effectively guide the translation of social science texts. In order to make the translation accurately and naturally express the original meaning, the author adopts the method of addition to translate the text under the guidance of functional equivalence theory, and then summarizes the methods of addition at the lexical level, including grammatical addition and semantic addition.Addition from these two aspects can make the translation more accurate and natural, and more easily accepted by Chinese readers. It is hoped that this report will have some reference value for other translators to translate similar texts.
