A Study On The Narrative Strategies Of Small Town Films

Since the 1990 s,many directors have focused their camera on small towns and their residents,and a number of films have appeared with small towns as the main narrative background or the characters in small towns as the main performance objects.These movies record the trajectory of the life of the little people under the great social changes.Although the box office is cold in China,they have emerged in the international arena and won many honors.This article takes the small town film as the research object,combs and explores the narrative strategies in the small town film: First,the author divides and defines the definition of the small town film and the small town film in the introduction part.By reviewing the origin and representative works of small town films,this paper summarizes the development of such films.Secondly,combined with specific films,summarizes the common characteristics of the main characters and supporting roles in small town movies,and analyzes the role image in small town movies,and thus explores the theme presented in the film.In addition,to deal with the space-time relationship in the film,the relationship between psychological space and real space,urban construction and social background is discussed.Finally,combined with the characteristics of character construction,theme presentation and spatial narration of small town movies,the author elaborates and analyses the creative ideas of original scripts.
