Interpretation Of People’s Impression Of Gourd

As a Chinese traditional handicraft,Dongchang gourd carving is an important part of Chinese excellent traditional culture.It was created by people in the practice of production and life and it is a precious legacy passed down by our ancestors.The handicraft embodies the painstaking efforts and wisdom of the working people in ancient times.At one point,it was like a pearl shining brightly.But with the development of society,it is gradually replaced by industrial products of mass production,making it become extinct.Nowadays,Dongchang gourd carving is lacking in inheritors because it usually takes craftsmen a few days or even more time to finish a work.In addition,the carving skill is so complicated that it is difficult for people to learn.Being a native of Liaocheng,I can’t bear to see the disappearance of this traditional skill in my hometown.So I have made the feature film on intangible cultural heritage People’s Impression of Gourd in order to recod the amazing craftsmanship of crftsmen in the form of images.By doing so,I also hope that more and more people will feel the traditonal Chinese national spirit featuring concentration,patience,paying attention to details as well as pursuing excellence in order to arouse their awareness of protecting this intangible cultural heritage and guide them to protect and inherit it consciously,thus making contributions to the development of my hometown.The thesis interprets the feature film People’s Impression of Gourd from the following four aspects:topic selection,the content of the film,the skills used in it and the author’s experience and lessons in creating it.It is divided into four chapters.The first chapter tells the reason why this film is made and it is made up of 2 sections.The first section is the value of gourd and the second section is the significance of making this film.The second chapter is the content of the film.This chapter consists of four parts.The first part describes the distinctive gourd culture in Liaocheng;the second part introduces the personal experiences of the inheritor Wang Shufeng,his excellent craftsmanship and his innovation in Dongchang gourd carving craft;the third part introduces the traditional craft of Dongchang gourd carving,its specific production process,and its subjects;the fourth part focuses on the inheritance of the craft and the provincial inheritor-Wang shufeng’s efforts in protecting and inheriting this craft.The third chapter tells how the film is made from the following three points: preparations,shooting and post-production.The last chapter is my gains and reflection in making this film.
