The translation was sponsored by China Literature Co.,Ltd.The author translated chapter 1 to chapter 100 of a webnovel named “The Proud Son of Heaven”.The translation lasted for four months.Among all the obstacles the author encountered during the process,a few of the typical ones were chosen to be listed as examples in the report.The Proud Son of Heaven is a webnovel which is hard to categorize in specific because it contains multiple elements including modern science and traditional Chinese culture.In general,it is a popular fiction which belongs to “vocative text”(Yang Li,2018).Therefore,it is reader-oriented,easy to read and to understand(Lin Xijin,2018).Webnovel translation is flourishing.There are many translators doing the practice every day,but few of them have written an analyze or done a research.The oversea promotion of webnovel is the unescapable stage in the development of the whole industry,and it's also a good chance for the publicity of Chinese culture.The Proud Son of Heaven was put up on the website in 2012 when the webnovel industry reached a new high peak because of the expansion of mobile internet which enabled people to read webnovels on their mobile phones.The novel followed typical forms of webnovels and had great impact for other webnovels coming next.The language of the whole work was simple and unadorned,with a great number of scientific terms and culture-loaded words.Sometimes the writer indicated inclination of nationalism.Translation is a process in which the information in one language was rephrased in another(Feng Qinghua,2008).Based on the characters listed above,and to produce the same effect on the Target Language readers as what has been produced by the original on the Source Language readers,the author chose New Mark's communicative translation theory as the guideline of the whole translation process.The theory stressed that the translation work should produce equivalent effects on its readers as how the source text effects the source text readers(Newmark,2006).Therefore,the translator could take advantage of the target language and don't need to adhere to the source text rigidly.The author concluded the whole translation process.Under the guidance of communicative translation theory,the author dedicated himself to make sure the cohesion,coherence and the vocative function of the text so that the translation work could carry equivalent effects on target readers.Meanwhile,the author chose several theories to help figure out the characteristics of the target readers,and the full picture of webnovel industry to make sure the rationalization in the application of communicative translation theory.However,due to limitation of the time,the quality of the translation work is certainly yet to improve.What's more,Sometimes the author inclined to the target language and culture too much,causing “inescapable infidelity”.All the disadvantages mentioned above will be corrected in the future works.
