With the popularity of mobile communication technology and network,mobile learning has become an effective supplement to traditional learning,meeting people's demand of obtaining information in time and anywhere as well as people's individual needs for learning.It has become popular to use mobile devices to assist English learning in universities,primary and secondary schools,but the promotion of mobile learning in secondary vocational schools is still in its infancy.At present,researches on mobile English learning mainly focus on colleges students,primary and secondary students.However,there are few researches on the current situation of mobile English learning for secondary vocational students.Therefore,it is of great practical significance to investigate the current situation of secondary vocational students using mobile devices to assist English learning.This study investigated and surveyed many aspects of the mobile English learning in secondary vocational schools and their students as follows: students' current cognitive status and attitudes towards mobile English learning,the characteristics of mobile English learning and the current environment of mobile English learning in secondary vocational schools.This study utilizes questionnaire and interview to investigate the mobile English learning of 328 students in three grades of Yancheng College of Mechatronic Technology of Jiangsu Province,and interviews 15 secondary vocational students and 10 English teachers.At last,it uses SPSS Statistics23 version and Excel data processing tool for data analysis.The survey results indicate that: firstly,secondary vocational students are deficient in the awareness of mobile English learning,lacking in in-depth understanding,and generally do not have high awareness.They need to strengthen their awareness of mobile English learning under the guidance of schools,teachers and parents.Secondary vocational students hold an affirmative attitude towards mobile learning,and they are more willing to learn with mobile devices in their spare time,and they are willing to accept learning resources recommended by schools orteachers.In this way,they have the foundation of mobile English learning.Secondly,mobile English learning of secondary vocational students is characterized by short time and low frequency.They tend to use it when they encounter difficulties in the learning process.While increasing publicity,teachers should consider the length of time and try to control the time in mobile learning assignment.Thirdly,the existing mobile English learning hardware environment in secondary vocational schools is not ideal.Although the possession of mobile devices is very high,due to the problem of running speed,the utilization rate is not high.The school should further optimize the campus wireless WIFI environment,build a smart campus,and implement the time-limited opening policy for secondary vocational students.As for the existing mobile English learning software environment of secondary vocational students,there are few mobile English resources suitable for secondary vocational students to learn directly,and it is difficult to meet the needs of individual learning.Therefore,schools,front-line teachers and App developers should strengthen communication and mutual understanding,and independently develop or cooperate with schools and enterprises to jointly develop mobile learning software suitable for secondary vocational students.Since secondary vocational school students are a group that is not paid attention to in English teaching research,and mobile learning is a relatively new research field,there are few preliminary results in the research on mobile learning of secondary vocational students.Therefore,there are some deficiencies in the design of the questionnaire in this study.In the future,the questionnaire can be further improved in order to have a more objective understanding of the mobile English learning status of secondary vocational students.
