A Practice Report On The Consecutive Interpreting Of The Summit Forum Of Technological And Industrial Innovations By Chinese Entrepreneurs

This report makes an analysis and a summary of the problems in the practice of the simulated interpretation of the speeches given by Wang Depei,the vice president of China Economic Reform Society and Cui Xiaobo,the cofounder and CEO of TalkingData,in China Entrepreneurs Summit Forum.In addition,strategic solutions are put forward under the guidance of the Functional Equivalence Theory."Innovation-driven development" strategy has been the strategic pillar to lift up the social productivity and overall competitiveness for our country and been the core of national growth,which is a grand decision made by the Party after taking into consideration of the global and future landscape.In this background,China Business Network and the School of Management of Fudan University cohosted the China Entrepreneurs Technology and Industry Innovation Summit Forum.In the forum,entrepreneurs focused on the current situation of technology and industry innovation at home and abroad and brought up strategy to boost domestic innovation.Wang Depei and Cui Xiaobo,as the last two speakers of the forum,concluded the forum by elaborating on technology innovation pushing forward industry innovation and solutions for companies to achieve industry innovation.As a result,the interpreter decided to choose these two speeches as the material for interpretation practice.In order to deliver a more objective and accurate interpretation and make it faithful to expression habits,the interpreter studied the background in which the forum was organized,and information about the two speakers and technology and industry innovation.In addition,professional materials about artificial intelligence,quantum entanglement,quantum superposition and internet communication protocol were also looked up.The interpreter also completed a simulated interpretation of the original audio,made repeated comparison between the audio and the text and accurately proofread the text.The report consists of six parts.The first chapter makes a description of the background of selecting the task;the second chapter contains a brief introduction of the task;the third chapter illustrates in detail the steps during the task;the fourth chapter mainly brings up the problems encountered in the task;the fifth chapter gives solutions to the problems in the previous chapter under the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory;the sixth chapter makes a summary of this interpretation practice.Through this practice,the interpreter gained a clearer understanding of the current situation of technology and industry innovation in China and realization of the significance of interpretation and translation today.In the meantime,the interpreter benefited from this practice by being able to better employ interpretation strategies and deepen the understanding of translation theories.Additionally,the interpreter comes to the realization that a qualified interpreter must be equipped with solid bilingual ability and awareness of cultural differences.However,due to the interpreter's limited proficiency,some interpretations may still not be professional and precise enough and therefore needs further polishing.
