In recent years,China's tourism industry has flourished. As a popular province for domestic tourism,Shaanxi has always been favored by tourists for its rich tourism resources and profound historical culture. As a form of interpretation, consecutive interpretation has built a bridge of intercultural communication in the process of introducing Shaanxi culture to the world. However,in the process of communication, redundant information hinders the conversion of language. How to solve the communication difficulties caused by the redundant information of the source language has become the research focus of translation scholars. The corpus chosen in this paper is a documentary about Shaanxi.Since the purpose of the documentary is to introduce the characteristics of Shaanxi to the audience,so the the source language contains a lot of explanatory information, and there is a lot of redundancy, which provides material for studying the processing strategies of redundant information.studying the processing strategies of redundant information. This is a practice report of Chinese-English consecutive interpreting which takes the first episode Hancheng, the second episode Huayin and the third episode Liuba of the documentary Walking in Shaanxi as an example.Guided by the Functional Equivalence Theory proposed by Eugene A·Nida,it focuses on the redundancy of three different aspects of semantics, structure and context. The case analysis shows that condensing words and synonymous substitution can deal with semantic redundancy effectively.Deconstruction and free interpretation can effectively handle the structural redundancy.Omission and integrating logic can effectively eliminate the contextual redundancy. It is hoped that these coping strategies for information redundancy can provide reference for interpreters.
