On December4,2013, the author was invited to conduct interpretation work ofShijiazhuang Baorui educational school’s staff training task. As a report, this paperdescribes the practice of the consecutive interpretation work based on the recordcontent of the ATM training in Shanghai, and analyzes the interpretation of the“Demo Is Marketing” to discuss the problem of consecutive interpretation occurredin the secondary site as well as corresponding strategies and solutions. This report reviews the task process mainly consisting of the “pre-interpretingpreparation” and “interpreting” in detail. Then the case analysis mainly combinewith the theory of “functional equivalence principle”, selects from part of theinterpretation contents guided by this theory and analyzes them within the view of“how to accomplish the interpreting task in three procedures and attain the goal oftraining.” from different levels.Through the two parts of task description and case analysis, it is concluded that:1. pre-interpreting preparation is important. And make sure that some professionalterm or some foreign brands’ names are acknowledged by the interpreter for both theinterpretation and even the explanation process.2. it’s necessary to have contingencyplans. This interpretation task is special—on the basis of the recording data inShanghai and not happened at the first site. So first I should ensure the auxiliaryequipment runs fine in the process of interpreting practice and ensure the tape playsmoothly and clearly. Second, in the process of interpretation, I should understandthe whole sentence and prevent mistranslation and pause especially for some partsthat are not listened clearly or some parts that are not be understood.3. Thesignificance of theoretical guidance. This task is part of the training of employees, soI’m requested not only to interpret, but also to explain some questions in a trainer’sview. Thus we can achieve the goal of training. So the author thinks that functionalequivalence theory is essential in the process of the interpreting task. Only to makethe function of the target language as same as the source language can we make the employees fully understand and master the relevant information, eventually achievethe goal of training.
