The importance of teaching culture in foreign language education has been widely recognised. However, the problem of how to teach EIL(English as an International Language)and cultures in an integrative way in non-English speaking countries remains unsolved and current models has largely failed to enable language learners to meet their demands. In order to solve this problem,Shen Chen and Thi Thuy Le wrote a book entitled Teaching of Culture in English as an International Language based on years of research. The book was published by the world's leading academic publisher,Routledge in 2018.It aims to introduce an integrated model for culture teaching. The author of this report had been told that this book has no current Chinese translations. As chapter six and chapter seven are closely related to China's foreign language education, the author uses them as translation material after getting permission from the publisher.According to Newmark, the source text belongs to informative texts, thus it can be translated under the guidance of Communicative Translation Theory.Newmark believes that a translator usually translates a text to inform, persuade the readers or give them advice. The communicative purpose of this translation practice is to introduce an integrated model for culture teaching in EIL education to the target readers. The author adopts translation methods and techniques including linear translation, restructuring, annotation, conversion, and division based on specific language features to produce a readable text. That is how she achieves a sound communicative effect in this practice.
