The translation practice is based on the first chapter of the book The Everything Guide to Investing in Cryptocurrency that is a detailed introduction to cryptocurrency-related knowledge and a comprehensive guide to its investment. The selected chapter offers an initial explanation of cryptocurrencies, including the concepts, origins, technologies, application, etc.,which plays a positive guiding role in understanding and investing in cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, and provides reference for industrial revolution and the development of digital economy. In preparation, the translator gets a holistic understanding and analysis of the original text, acquires the background knowledge about cryptocurrency, digital economy, financial investment, computer science and design, and develops a glossary.During translation, with computer-aided translation, network searches, terminological dictionaries and other translation tools, the translator adopts literal translation supplemented by free translation, under the macro guidance of “functional equivalence” theory. In the case analysis, from vocabulary, syntax, rhetoric and discourse, the translator makes concrete analyses on the translation difficulties such as terminologies, clauses, metaphor, coherence, etc.and explores the differences between English and Chinese language and culture to further summarize appropriate translation methods.Through this practice, the translator has accumulated some translation experiences and skills, strengthened the analytical ability and broadened the knowledge about cryptocurrency. In addition, the translator is deeply aware of the importance of proofreading and revision in translation.A good translation cannot be achieved overnight, but needs elaboration.
