From September to November 2019,the author joined the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI)foreign aid seminar and worked as a Chinese-English interpreter for nearly two months. The seminar was organized by the Ministry of Commerce and hosted by the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission. This paper reviews the author's interpretation experience during the two months and adopts the practical theory of "Understanding,Memorizing,Expression and Emergency Response"(UMEER)Framework for analyzing the real-life interpretation recordings. This framework was put forward by LI Changshuan in his book titled "Understanding and Expression:Cases and Comments on English-Chinese Interpretation",based on which the paper summarizes the main problems encountered in interpretation as well as how the author addressed those problems. This paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter introduces the background and main contents of the interpretation experience. The second chapter describes each stage of the interpretation task in detail. The third chapter, which is the main body of this paper, introduces what is UMEER Framework, and analyzes representative examples of interpretation problems and solutions concerning understanding, memorizing, expression and emergency response. The fourth chapter summarizes the author's interpretation practice and reflects on how to become a better interpreter in the future. The appendix of the paper is part of the transcriptions of the interpretation experience and an example of glossary preparation.
