Third-party Evaluation Report on the Belt and Road Initiative Progress(2013-2018),as the first scientific assessment of the progress in the BRI,is of great significance to promote the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI)deeper. This book hasn't been translated as the most recent and comprehensive study of the development of the BRI.Therefore, the translator selects its first chapter as the translation material to improve her translation ability, make her own contribution to the publicity of the BRI,and provide some reference for the translation of publicity texts. The main purpose of the source text is to convey the information on the development of the BRI.Therefore, under the guidance of Text Typology, the translator analyzes the translation difficulties and proposes the according solutions based on the characteristics of informative text.In the translation process, the translator analyzes such translation difficulties in the source text as high-frequency words,non-subject sentences, complex sentences and the realization of discourse cohesion, and proposes the appropriate translation strategies and methods to solve these difficulties as well. The translation report has three major findings as follows. At the lexical level, the high-frequency words can be translated with translation methods such as literal translation, free translation and omission;at the syntactic level,it is possible to translate non-subject sentences by adding a subject and using passive sentences or imperative sentences, and to translate complex sentences with translation methods of division and structural adjustment, which enhances the readability of the translation;and at the discourse level,in order to achieve the cohesion of the translated text, cohesive devices such as reference and conjunction should be employed.
