This paper is a case study on an English translation project of The 9th Panchen Lama:A Biography to discuss how to better translate Chinese run-on sentences into English sentences.Based on the discourse analysis of run-on sentences,the author clarifies that if the translator does not know the characteristics of discourse of run-on sentences,some problems may occur,i.e.vague sentence meanings and confusing information arrangement of the sentence.On the basis of differences between Chinese and English and by comparatively analyzing the first and final translated version of the texts,the author puts forward some suggestions on how to translate Chinese run-on sentences into English better,i.e.deciding a proper subject of the sentences,making the semantic relations between clauses obvious by using inflection and function words,and arranging sentences and clauses in proper sequence.
