This report is a translation practice report based on the translation practice project The Well-Wishers.The authority was entrusted by Sichuan People's Publishing House. The original text is an English novel, which is suitable for children aged 8 to14.After translating the whole novel, the author writes this translation practice report. This paper not only documents the whole translation process, but also describes in detail how the author chooses appropriate translation methods and translation strategies under the guidance of Skopos Theory to solve the difficulties encountered in the translation process.Under the guidance of fidelity rule,to be faithful to the client and the readers, the translator always puts the requirements of the client's first, tries her best to optimize translation words. For the sake of reducing the cultural differences between China and the West, the author chooses to combine literal translation with free translation and combine domestication with foreignization. To be faithful to the original text and culture,in some novel plots related to western culture, literal translation plus annotation is used in the translated text.In this way, target readers can have a deep understanding of the original novel and get familiar with the cultural differences. For example,in western culture, rabbit foot has the function of exorcising evil spirits. In the original novel,a main character makes a wish on a pair of rabbit feet,so the translator adds the annotation of the meaning of rabbit foot after literal translation.Another principle of the Skopos Theory is the coherence rule. This is very important for the readability of the novel. The coherence rule is one of the three basic principles of the Skopos Theory. The translator's translation must be readable and acceptable so that the reader can understand the context and the culture of the target language. In the process of translation, the author combines amplification and omission to ensure the coherence of the translation words.Amplification effectively ensures the integrity of the grammar structure of the translated text. And omission makes the article concise and clear. In the process of translation, the translator pays great attention to the use of rhetorical devices. The appropriate rhetorical devices can keep the readability of the translation.Especially in the translation of children's literature, vivid figures of speech such as personification and metaphor are indispensable. In the translation practice report, the author also mentions the retention of rhetorical devices in the original text and how to translate rhetorical sentences in the original text. The author documents her translation process, including the translator's views on the translation of children's literature, the translator's choice of translation theories and translation strategies. It is hoped that this practice report will play a guiding role in this kind of translation practice and research of such texts.
