As important thinkers of the Late Ming period,Wang Fuzhi and Liu Zongzhou occupy a unique position in the history of science.Due to the special context of the two people's thinking,a more comprehensive comparison and summary of the two people's psychological system will not only help us to clarify the two people's own spiritual temperament and thinking direction,but also help us to summarize and integrate the whole six hundred years of scientific thinking.By summarizing and comparing the structural features of the two systems of thought,we can see that Wang Fuzhi has ostensibly followed the sutra tradition in the field of mindfulness theory,strictly refining the tension contained in the old explanatory ideas and concepts,but in fact,the inner part of his thought is quite detached from the tradition,which has led to a certain disharmony in the form and content of his thought.The most typical example is its practice of explaining"self-deception" as "bullying".On the contrary,Liu Zongzhu did not try to cover up his own innovations,but rather did his best to expand and showcase his idiosyncrasies.But the uncontrolled grafting and distortion of the traditional genealogy has also weakened its affinity with the traditional system to a certain extent,to the extent that it has failed to move the entire tradition forward.Typically,the concept of "glimpse" is created by separating from the "intention",resulting in a disconnection and disconnection between the practical view associated with it and the traditional practices.However,in their attempts to introduce new elements into the tradition,both Wang and Liu used the concept of "will",which did not belong to the original interpretation tradition,as a pivot or intermediary for innovation,and used it to reshape and reposition the traditional concepts of mindfulness,such as "heart" and"intention".It can be said that this external "will" is the stepping stone of the theoretical innovation jointly chosen by Wang and Zhou.From their respective ways of using the concept of "will",we can find that Wang's theoretical system is more concise and convenient in the definition of individual concepts,and more in line with tradition,thus facilitating the derivation of specific propositions,such as "will" to explain "heart" and "intentions root in hearts"to explain "sincerity",cleanly and neatly.Liu Zongzhu's theoretical system has the advantage of having a reasonable positioning and arrangement of the intertwined and overlapping concepts of mindfulness,for example,"intention" is the master and direction of "mind",and "mind" and "intention" belong to the same transcendental level,etc.This not only enhances the clarity of the theory,but also avoids the repetition of argumentation.From this,it can be assumed that,in order to continue and resurrect the tradition of spiritualism today,it is necessary to learn from the experiences and lessons of Wang and Zhou,and to take care to place the "will" or other intermediary concepts that serve a similar purpose,especially by striking a balance between the clarity of individual conceptual propositions and the stability of the overall system,in close proximity to the tradition and the new chapter of self-statement.This paper is intended to outline the general framework and direction of this possible new system for the future.
