On Prestige Planning In Putonghua Proficiency Test

Language planning consists of status planning,corpus planning,acquisition planning,and prestige planning.Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi(PSC),or Putonghua Proficiency Test,is an important element in Chinese language planning.Previous studies investigated Putonghua Proficiency Test from the first three aspects but few from prestige planning.Based on Cooper's accounting scheme(1989)and Ager's prestige planning theories and framework(2001,2005),this study aimed to analyze the prestige planning of Putonghua Proficiency Test from 1982 till now by examining related laws and regulations,official documents,scholars' research and Putonghua Proficiency Test operations.Finally,based on the major findings,some suggestions are ventured for future studies and work in the prestige planning of Putonghua Proficiency Test.
