Study On The Semantic Of Russian "Character" Idioms

Idioms are important constituent parts of language,which is not the unit of language,but also the cultural treasure of a nation.Russian idioms are also the essence of Russians,which demonstrates the culture,historical connotation,social environment and personality of Russians.Personality is a major concept and core theme in the field of personality psychology,and national personality is a distinctive reflection of national culture,carrying profound cultural connotation.Russian idioms concerning personality are abundant in amount and meanings,which can serve as an effective carrier of Russians' national personality and culture.Thus,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to study Russian idioms concerning personality.Taking Russian personality idioms as research objects,this paper has a deep and systematic study on their structural types,syntactic functions,semantics and origins.The paper firstly introduces the research background and significance,confirms the research objects,and clear up the current research status and development trend at home and abroad.In the part of theoretical foundation,it clarifies the concept of Russian idioms,and illustrates their features and major types.Based on the theory,it analyzes the structural types and syntactic functions of Russian personality idioms.According to semantics,Russian personality idioms are classified to two major types:positive personality idioms and negative personality idioms.Positive personality idioms are made up of 22 subcategories,including calmness,bravery and frankness;negative personality idioms are made of 32 subcategories,including arrogance,laziness and hastiness,54 subcategories in total.From the perspective of semantics,a multi-angle analysis is conducted on synonymy,polysemy and autonomy of Russian personality idioms,which covers Russian personality idioms coming from national history,literary works,national customs and religions.By clarifying Russian personality idioms and enriching the understanding of idiom theories from the perspective of linguistics and linguistic culturology,it ishelpful to promote the teaching of Russian idioms and deepen our understanding of Russians' national culture.
