Russian Idioms Culture

Language is the carrier of culture, it is also a tool of cultural development, with the development of culture, language is also developing. The Cultural Linguistics is the discipline that studies the cultural nature and the cultural values of language, as well as the relationship between culture and language. This paper aims to study the relationship between the Russian idioms and the traditional Russian culture. Idioms as an important part of language, recording and reflecting all aspects of life of a nation, are an epitome of the history, culture, religion, politics, economy and daily life of a country. The Russian idioms contain Russian lifestyle and characteristics, historical phenomenon, national traditions, religious beliefs, customs, and other factors. For the study of the cultural characteristics of Russia, Russian idioms are the most readily available, the most vivid, and the most concise language materials. This essay analyses and summarizes Russian nationalism embodied in the typical characteristics of the material culture and spiritual culture, including diet, housing, clothing and customs, religious thought, politics, military, literature and other fields. By studying the Russian idioms, the customs and folklore of Russia could be better understood, at the same time, the essence of the Russian language-idioms, can be well grasped, therefore making the Russian learning an interesting process, instead of dogmatic reciting Russian idioms and words. I hope it will provide some inspiration for the teaching of Russian.
