A Practice Report On The Consecutive Interpreting Of Football Theory Lecture

With the rapid development of Chinese football,more and more foreign coaches have been invited to China to introduce their advanced coaching theory.It requires a large number of interpreters who are equipped with basic football theory.It is a fresh area with huge potential.As a sport interpreter,one must know more than general interpreting knowledge: such as the understanding of tactics,the responsibilities of different positions on the field,also the culture and history of certain sport are also necessary.Contents of this report are based on the author’s interpreting practice in Nanning Palestra Sport Cultural Co.,Ltd.During the practice,the author served as the interpreter for Chinese coaches from Palestra and an English-speaking coach from Spain,completing the consecutive interpreting of the lecture on football coaches’ principles.The understanding of strategies,the interpreting of the terms and the accumulation of relevant background knowledge are the key points in this report.Meanwhile,the author also discusses the coping tactics under different circumstances,such as the deverbalization,the restructuring of sentences and the explanation to the strategy.The author concludes the ways to improve the quality of interpreting in relatively new subjects: sufficient preparation,good psychological quality and persistent practice.The author would like to introduce the preparation before the task and some methods like paraphrasing and addition he applied during the task through his own experience.The author hopes that this report can contribute to the researchfield of football interpreting.
