Against the backdrop of insufficient driver of world economy,unbalanced development between Nouth and Sorth,rising trend of anti-globalization and out-dated governance system,China proposed the “Belt and Road” Initiative with a view of promoting mutual benefit and common development.The past six years have witnessed the fruitful results and expanding influence of the Initiative.Many countries have given their attention and supports and made active response to it.During the process,publicity translation plays an important role by making details of the Initiative accessible to the world.As a publicity material,the project “The Belt and Road” Initiative: Progress,Contributions and Prospects makes an detailed introduction of the development and prospects of the Initiative.The project report is written on the basis of the C-E translation practice of the author,which principally explores the translation methods and skills in the fields of publicity translation by studying part of the translation material themed by the “Belt and Road” Initiative.Under the guidance of the Skopos theory,the author,in the light of the characteristics of publicity materials,summarizes and analyzes major difficulties encountered in translation in the facet of lexicon,syntax and text,and presents corresponding solutions,including how to render terminologies and culture-loaded words,how to cope with run-on sentences and long sentences,and how to achieve cohesion and coherence in a text.It is hoped that the strategies and methods mentioned in the report can inject new blood into the research of publicity translation.
