High school stage as an important stage of physical and mental development,physical and psychological development often brings some emotional distress to them.The psychological crisis caused by various negative emotions may cause some mental health problems.Good emotional regulation can help high school students control their emotions reasonably,improve life satisfaction and maintain their mental health.Therefore,it is important to help high school students to deal with negative emotions,learn to regulate emotions,and cultivate the ability to use emotional regulation strategies to improve and maintain their mental health.This study mainly explored the present situation of mental health level of high school students,including the emotional health and life satisfaction level of high school students and the development of emotional regulation strategies.Based on Gross'emotion regulation process and ABC theory,the study designed a program of group counseling activities aimed at improving high school students' emotional regulation strategies and thus facilitating mental health level through group counseling.Firstly,the Affect Scales,the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire and the Life Satisfaction Scale were used to survey the students of a high school in Wuhan,using independent-samples t test,one-way ANOVA and so on to analyze the current mental health level of high school students.On the basis of the investigation,the students with no significant difference in mental health level and emotion regulation strategy were selected as the research objects,a total of 24 students were divided into experimental group and control group.The experimental group received six group counseling interventions,the intervention was based on the Gross emotion regulation process and ABC theory,and the control group did not accept the intervention.After intervention,the Affect Scales,the Emotion Regulation Questionnaire and the Life Satisfaction Scale were used to test the intervention results.Results:(1)The frequency of expression inhibition strategy is higher than that of girls,the negative emotion of senior one students is higher than that of senior two,and the life satisfaction of high school girls is higher than that of boys,and(2)The use of emotion regulation strategies is related to the level of emotional health and life satisfaction,and emotion regulation strategies can predict positive emotions,negative emotions and life satisfaction.(3)The emotional regulation group counseling can reduce the frequency of use expression inhibition strategies,have no significant effect on the improvement of emotional health level,and can effectively improve students' life satisfaction level.Conclusion:Emotional regulation strategy is an important factor affecting high school students' positive emotion,negative emotion and life satisfaction;intervention in emotional regulation strategy of high school students can reduce their expression inhibition strategy and improve their life satisfaction.
