The translation material of this practice report is taken from the first two chapters of The End of Alzheimer's,a medical work written by Dr.Dale Bredesen. As a neurologist,Dr.Dale Bredesen has excellent research ideas both in basic neuroscience and advanced precision medicine and expounds much medical knowledge in this book, which is clear, accurate and logical. In addition,as a kind of English for science and technology,The End of Alzheimer's is featured by medical terminologies,semi-scientific words and long sentences. This practice report analyzes typical cases in the first two chapters of The End of Alzheimer's in three aspects: lexicon, syntax and text.In the process of translation, the translator, under the guidance of Newmark's Text Type theory, adopts communicative translation strategy and applies translation skills of sequential, adverse, amplification and omission, aiming to make the translation of words accurate and appropriate, sentences smooth and concise, and text faithful and coherent. From this point of view, the target text can not only convey the information clearly and accurately but make it better conform to the expression habits of the target language.Through the analysis of typical cases, great efforts are made to achieve logical and strict translation,so that the target text can accurately convey the information of the source text and be more easily comprehensible to the target readers. In addition,it is expected that this translation practice can provide some useful references for later medical translation.Figure 0;Table 0;Reference 30.
