As a Romanian student in China,I have often been puzzled by the complex grammar rules regarding the attributive clause in Chinese, such as the rules regarding the use of multiple adjectives within the attribute, the use of the noun modifier,“ ?(de)” as well as the differences between the attribute in Chinese and Romanian which are all difficulties for the Romanian students studying Chinese. Therefore, this research focusses on the situation of Romanian students studying the Chinese attribute and aims to improve the results of Romanian students studying Chinese. The thesis comprises of four main chapters and its content is as follows:The first chapter introduces the research purpose, significance as well as the methods used.It reviews the research which has been done in this area and focuses on two main aspects: Research on the attribute in Chinese itself as well as the acquisition of the Chinese attribute. The second chapter compares and analyzes the differences between the Chinese and Romanian attribute from four different aspects, namely the differences in categorization, the semantic relationship between the attribute and its qualified word, the word order of multiple attributives as well as the rules regarding the use of the attributive mark. These aspects are compared and in the process those which correspond, which do not completely correspond and which dont correspond are identified. In the third chapter the difficulties regarding the study and use of the attributive clause for Romanian students are investigated through the use of questionnaires.Based on the survey data, the types of errors are summarized and described.During this research it was found that the most mistakes occur with regards to the order of multiple adjectives within the attributive clause. In the fourth chapter, the causes of the errors made with regards to the attributive clause are analyzed.Three causes of errors are identified, namely the negative transfer of mother tongue knowledge, the generalization of target language knowledge and the complexity of Chinese grammar.According to the causes of the errors made, suggestions are put forth which can be summarized by increase of research done on the comparison between Chinese and Romanian attributive clause, the cultivation oflanguage sense in the target language as well as the increase in meaningful language practice.
