Learning motivations and learning strategies have been considered as important factors in second language acquisition for a long time.Different learners have different characteristics of learning motivations and learning strategy intensity.The Thai students from the class of foreign government officials of the College of Chinese Language and Culture of Huaqiao University were selected as the subjects,and they were committed to exploring the types and intensities of Chinese learning motivations and learning strategies of Thai students.According to the motivation of different learners,this paper proposes stimulating strategies,finds effective methods to improve the efficiency of Chinese learning,and provides some theoretical basis for Chinese teaching of international students from Thailand.The research results show that participants' motivation for achievement learning is the strongest.The social strategies are the most frequency strategy,followed by emotional strategies,and the least frequent are cognitive strategies.Learning motivations and learning strategies influence each other.Among the various motivations that affect learning strategies,achievement motivation has the largest impact on strategy,followed by internal motivation,and cognitive strategies and metacognitive strategies have a greater impact on learning motivation.Research data also show that individual factors such as learner learning level,personality,and Chinese identity can affect learning motivation and learning strategies.Intermediate level learners are higher than beginner and advanced level learners both in terms of learning motivation intensity and frequency of use of learning strategies.Chinese identities also performed better than non-Chinese identities in their motivation and strategies.Therefore,according to the different performances of the learners,I propose a variety of teaching methods and expand extracurricular activities.The author proposes suggestions based on targeted maintenance and motivation of learning motivation and learning strategies.
