As a language,English is a communication tool.The ultimate purpose of learning English is to communicate and express.However,the traditional method of English phonetic teaching is single,which often leads to some problems like students' non-standard pronunciation and daring not to express.The State's New English Curriculum Standards states that it is necessary to change the traditional English teaching method and focus on training students' practical language skills.In order to improve students' ability of phonics and language expression,this research combines phonics with the Sound Time section of the Yilin version's textbook to explore a new model of phonetic teaching.It aims to explore two questions:Question 1: Can phonics help elementary school students to pronounce and spell words accurately ?Question 2.Can phonics help elementary students improve their ability of English language expressions?This research is mainly carried out from the following aspects: First,analyze the research background and put forward the necessity of inquiry about phonics.Second,introduce the theoretical basis of phonics.Third,by reviewing the literature,know the current research of phonics at home and abroad,and analyze the feasibility of applying phonics.Fourth,taking students from two classes in Xushi primary school as the research object,set up an experimental class and a control class to make the teaching practice of integrating phonics and the section of Sound Time.Fifth,use tests,questionnaires,and interviews to analyze experimental data.The experiment found that phonics can improve the accuracy of pronunciation and spelling ability of primary school students.What's more,it can improve students' expression ability,heighten their interest and self-confidence in English learning.It is a suitable education for students.Consequently,there are some pedagogical implications.First of all,teachersshould make the teaching procedure various and colourful,thus increasing the enthusiasm of the students.Besides,cultivating students' phonetic awareness is very important,it can promote their sustainable development.The last one is to pay attention to the learning habit of the students,helping them form good and a lifelong habit.
