Research On Social Organizations And Gifts Flow In Gudu Naxi Village

This article takes the Gudu natural village of Baidi Village Committee,Sanba Naxi Township,Shangri-la,Diqing Prefecture,Yunnan Province,as a survey site since the Naxi traditional culture is well preserved,and the gift customs are distinctive.Investigation and research.A deeper investigation and research was conducted on the social organization and gift flow in the Gudu village.It is found that the Gudu village retains a variety of traditional social organizations and rich gift flow forms.The thesis describes the Gudu village that the geographical environment,and profile of the social history and culture.Stable farming life for thousands of years,long village history and deep cultural heritage have created favorable conditions for the formation of colorful gift customs and multi-level social organizations.The flow of gifts in the Gudu village is based on social organizations.Therefore,the author has conducted in-depth inspections of several social organizations in Gudu village,such as Ancient clan,Jitian group,“Cu'a”,“Hua”,Team of horses and so on.The Naxi people in the Gudu village are mainly composed of the descendants of the Naxi clans and Gu family,which are “He” and “You”,and there are also two Tibetan descendants that combined with the Naxi ethnicity-“He Guzong” and “Mo guzong”.In Jitian group,“Guxu” and “Pudu” are the most common groups.“Cu'a” refers to a group with common ancestors,with a total of 11 in the village.“Bai Panzhihua” refers to a festive picnic group composed of immediate family members of a male lineage.“E'hua” is a productive mutual help group composed of livestock farmers.The Team of horses are an economic interest group spawned by the tourism industry.The article focuses on the relationship between gifts and social organizations,giving examples of the flow of more than ten gifts in the Gudu village.In the flow of gifts,the content,form,and value of gifts are different due to different social organizational structures.The Naxi people in the Gudul village and the surrounding Tibetans and Yi people also have frequent gift flow,which is mainly manifested in the “landlord trade” of the presence or absence of communication.The flow of gifts in the Gudu village follows the principles of reciprocity and prompt return of gifts,which hasn't yet attracted the attention of anthropology and folklore to a certain extent.Gift flow has the functions of social assistance,maintaining harmony between secular and sacred realms,strengthening ethnic consciousness,maintaining and building relationship networks.Since the land reform,the social structure of the ancient capital village has undergone two major changes,which has caused changes in the content and type of gifts,as well as the occasion and scale of gift flows.Today,the flow of gifts in the Gudu village shows the coexistence of tradition and modernity.
