Chinese embroidery crafts have a long history.As an excellent traditional craft in China,embroidery embodies the diligence and wisdom of the Chinese people and also known for its superb embroidery skills around the world.Hunan embroidery is not only an excellent traditional folk craft in China,but also one of the world's intangible cultural heritage.Meanwhile,with the development of economic globalization,countries are increasingly attaching great importance to cultural communication.In order to spread Chinese marvellous traditional culture,China has implemented the “overseas promotion of Chinese culture” strategy,so that the translation of cultural texts has received much attention.The translation of Hunan cultural texts is consistent with China's national conditions and the development of the times,which can promote the intercultural communication of Hunan embroidery culture.The object of this translation practice is folk embroidery of Hunan Culture,and the translation text is selected from “Hunan Embroidery I”,one of the series of “Hunan Library”.The third chapter of the book “Hunan Folk Embroidery” is selected for transaltion,cultural translation theory was adopted as a guide principle to analyze and translate cultural types of embroidery texts,and to discuss the important and difficult points in translation.The author is supposed to consider the reader's cognition and acceptance as well as the features of the source text.Furthermore,the author concludes translation methods applicable to four-character expressions and embroidery terms as well as long sentences in the text,and summarize the glossary of embroidery terms.Meanwhile,the author also hoped that this thesis can provide some translation references,translation experience,and translation methods for cultural texts of embroidery,which could be helpful for learners and researchers in the study of embroidery translation.
