A Report On E-C Translation Of The Excerpts From Ecommerce Analytics

Over the past six years,the volume of trade in goods between China and countries along the Belt and Road has been increased rapidly,and the Silk Road ecommerce has become a new channel for economic and trade cooperation between China and these countries.Meanwhile,with the rapid development of the digital economy,the traditional model of ecommerce industry sees an increasing need to accelerate industrial transformation by applying big data,cloud computing,artificial intelligence,block chain and other digital technologies,which makes the translation of business technology texts become more and more important.This report is based on translation researches on Chapter 1 and Chapter 9 of Ecommerce Analytics.Chapter 1 of Ecommerce Analytics reveals the positive effect from ecommerce analysis on ecommerce companies by introducing business cases in which ecommerce analysis is proved successfully effective on growing and predicting the business in ecommerce.The core theme of Chapter 9 is ecommerce customer analysis,which guides ecommerce companies to do analysis and researches on customer data by using the data analysis at different level.As one of the technical supports of new mode of ecommerce marketing,data analysis is an important driving force for the operation and development of ecommerce companies.This report has five parts: description of translation task,analysis of original text,interpretation of translation process,case analysis and summary of translation project.First of all,the translator expounds the background and significance of this translation task.Furthermore,the translator introduces the source,content and features of original text and explains the process of this translation project in detail.In addition,based on the text features of Ecommerce Analytics that is a business technology text,the translator conducts specific cases analysis in lexicon,syntax and texture guided by Reiss' s Theory of Text Typology,in terms of lexicon,the translator looks up the specialized dictionaries and parallel texts to get the accurate translation of the terms.Meanwhile,the modal verbs in excerpts are classified based on the semantics,and omission is used selectively in translating these modal verbs;in terms of syntax,voice conversion is used in translating passive sentences,reversed translation is used in translating negative sentences and the syntactic structure transformation is used in translating long sentences;in terms of texture,the translator analyzes the text cohesion and coherence of excerpts in translating punctuation and demonstrative pronouns.In the end,the translator reviews the whole translation project and summarized the enlightenment gained and shortcomings found in this translation project.The significance of this translation project is explained in the following aspects: firstly,the original text is a book of a famous data analysts in ecommerce data analysis.The translation of excerpts of the book can provide some references for Chinese enterprises and researchers engaged in ecommerce and big data.Secondly,the business technology text related to the undergraduate major of the translator is chosen to be the research materials of the translation project,which is beneficial for improving the interdisciplinary research ability and multi-disciplinary professional quality of the translator.Thirdly,the case analysis of business technology text is guided by Reiss' s Theory of Text Typology,which can provide more theoretical reference for translating the texts of the same type.Finally,under the background of Chinese enterprises “going global”,by implementing this translation project,the translator hopes to provide multi-dimensional reference for the development of Chinese ecommerce enterprises,international economic and trade cooperation and cross-cultural exchanges.
