The Application Of Hand Shape Of Dunhuang Fresco In Decorative Relief

Dunhuang Murals are the treasures of Buddhist art in China.The richness of their subject and content can bring infinite reveries space for the audience.The figure decorative language in the murals has become the source from which many artists and designers get their inspiration.The author of this paper is very much interested in Buddhist art,especially those varieties of hand shapes in Dunhuang frescoes,which are elegant,graceful,unique,and they convey connotations in Buddhism and various decorative beauty as well.This paper is written during the author's graduate period.And through the study of different hand postures in Dunhuang frescoes and in-depth practice,the author tries to apply hand postures to the design and production of 2.5-dimensional decorative reliefs,sharing her own creative ideas,production process as well as learning experience.The purpose of this paper is to discuss the creative language of the hand shape of Dunhuang frescoes in decorative reliefs through the study of the historical evolution and types of the hand postures of Dunhuang Murals,the study of the combining of Dunhuang Mural elements with the decorative relief,and the combining of hand postures elements with the decorative relief works,so as to seek the possibility and innovation of the use of Dunhuang Mural hand postures in the decorative relief.
