The Arden Shakespeare Miscellany,published by the world-renowned Academic Research Institute,Arden Shakespeare,is a documentary varia about Shakespeare written by the famous publisher and writer Jane Armstrong.The book mainly summarizes the authoritative research results of this institution for Shakespeare in the past decades.Based on the author's translation of Chapter II,TV,V,VII of the book,this practice report analyzes the significance of using the Theory of Text Typology in the process of translation.According to the characteristics of informative text,the report introduces the difficulties encountered in translation by using the concrete examples and gives corresponding translation strategies and methods.The report begins with an introduction to the translation task,which mainly includes the source of the material,the outline of the content,and the textual and linguistic features of the translation material.Secondly,the preparatory work for translation is introduced,including the list of terms and the reserve of background knowledge,as well as the planning and post-translation review.Then,based on the Theory of Text Typology,the difficulties encountered in the actual translation process are analyzed and some translation methods : adjustment of sentence order,the change of the voice are introduced.In the end,the author reviewed and reflected the practice of translation.By translating The Arden Shakespeare Miscellany,the author explores translation strategies and methods from the perspective of the Theory of Text Typology in order to provide some references for relevant translation studies and translators.
