This interpreting practice report reports the Chinese-English interpreting processes in Shaanxi History Museum that the author had gone through. The report includes the C-E interpreting practice description in the museum, the C-E interpreting process description in the museum, the C-E interpreting practice analysis in the museum, and the conclusion part. Firstly, in the practice description, the author decides to make the the third hall as her practice location after investigating the Shaanxi History Museum’s basic situations. In addition, this interpreting practice would be done in the form of the short-consecutive interpreting without notes in accordance with the museum’s Chinese interpretation language features. Secondly, the practice process description part, includes the pre-preparation phase, the interpreting process itself and the issues after the practice. The pre-preparation phase is mainly about the study of the Interpretive Theory. For the Interpretive Theory, the author elaborates its semantic equivalence principle and the triangular process (comprehension, de-verbalization, reformulation). After the practice, the author transcribes the video recording of her interpreting practice into its written forms, i.e., transcripts. Thirdly, in the practice analysis, since this practice is done in the form of short-consecutive interpreting, there is no notes study. And the author mainly analyzes the target language trnscripts thoroughly based on the combination of the Interpretive Theory and the museum’s language features. It is found in the last phase-reformulation of the triangular process that her English interpreting cannot clearly and coherently convey the source language’s original meaning. Lastly, the report that combines the Interpretative Theory with the interpreting practice in the museum recommends two ways to solve the problem, namely, a deeper understanding of the interpreting language in museums and more oral practice of the target language.
